Pete Mendiola

Pete Mendiola It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Pete Mendiola, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle on Monday, October 13, 2025. Born on February 20, 1953, as a twin to Octavio and Beatrice Mendiola in Roswell, NM. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Roswell, New Mexico on October 29, 2025, with a Rosary at 9:30 am with mass following. Pete's cremains will be taken to General Douglas L McBride Veterans Cemetery at South Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles on South Sunset Ave. Pete graduated from Roswell High School in 1972 and shortly after entering the US Marine Corp, was honorably discharged in 1976 as a Lance Corporal. He was a very proud MARINE. Pete enjoyed teaching and watching BeaBea and grandchildren play sports, walking, and going to the movies. He also loved his cigarettes and mota. He worked in many places in Roswell and Santa Fe, as well as being a painter. He was pretty much a jack of all trades. Survivors include his daughter, Beatrice Mendiola. Grandchildren, Iziac and Kassie Gonzales, and Evelyn Moreno. Siblings: Ben (Dorthy) Mendiola, and John Mendiola of Rio Rancho NM. Twin, Lee (Angie) Mendiola, Yolanda Mendiola, and Cathy (Lupe) Mendiola of Roswell NM. Lisa (Leon) Mendiola of Santa Fe, NM, Stepdaughters: Quila, Breana, and Gem and their children. Beatrice's mother, Kathy Lucero, who sat and prayed over him prior to his passing. Special nieces Catalina and Isabel, Godson, Louie Lujan, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Danny Mendiola, special cousin who never missed an opportunity to visit in his final moments. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Octavio and Beatrice Mendiola, brother Louie Mendiola, paternal grandparents, Manuel and Clara Mendiola, maternal grandparents Santiago and Conception Luna. Close friend, Rose Mary Quintana. Pete's family would like to extend a special thank you to Raul Alvarez, and Agustin for the beautiful urn, Mission Arch Care Center and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion that they showed while in their care.
