Obituary for Rachel Alvarez Rachel Alvarez, 68, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 with her loved ones by her side. She was born on August 29, 1946 in Roswell, NM to Guadalupe Alvarez and Consepcion Marquez. She retired from Eastern New Mexico Medical Center after 38 years of employment. Rachel enjoyed reading, doing word find puzzles, and going to the casinos when the opportunity arose. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Guadalupe “Lupito” Alvarez. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Alice Vega and husband Jesus G. Sr and Evangelina Lopez of Roswell, NM; Special companion of 18 years, Irvin Marrujo along with his children: Lisa, O’Shawna and Toby, goddaughter whom she loved and cared for as if she were her own daughter, Audriana “Audie” Vega of Albuquerque, NM. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews. Rachel was a very kind, beautiful person and loving to all. She would light up a room with her pure and loving soul, welcoming everyone with open arms. One of her traits was leaving a wonderful mark on all of our hearts that we will carry for a lifetime. Rachel will forever be greatly missed by all of her family, friends and anyone who came to know her. “My Nina, I will forever miss you! You were like a mother to me. You loved me unconditionally. I thank you for everything you have ever done for me. You took care of me and loved me to no end! I will forever cherish all the memories we had together. You will forever have a big piece of my heart. I know you are my angel now even though that is so hard to accept. I know you are making heaven brighter today like you did our lives for so long! I just want you to know I love you, and I will forever love you Nina! May you rest in love. Love Audie” A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Savino Sanchez of Church on the Move will officiate. Rachel was cremated according to her wishes.
