Ramon Gonzalez

A wake for Ramon P. Gonzalez, 91, of Roswell will be held at 7 pm, Saturday, August 1,2009 La Gracia De Jesucristo Church with Pastor Benjamin Vasquez officiating. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, at La Gracia de Jesucristo Church with Pastor Catarino Munoz officiating. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm, Sunday, August 2, 2009 at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am, Monday, August 3, 2009 at St. Johns with Father Juan Antonio Gutierrez officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Ramon passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 surrounded by the love of his family. Ramon was born January 1, 1918 to Gregorio Gonzalez and Marcela Barragan, in Riva Palacio Chihuahua, Mexico. He married his wife of fifty years, Isabel Gonzalez who preceded him in death in 1989. Ramon enjoyed gardening, he took great pride in maintaining his garden and his vehicles in top shape. He was a very hard worker, as a youngster he spent a lot of time riding horses but what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for New Mexico Military Institute. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ on August 10, 2008. Ramon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his three daughters; Mary Becerra and her husband Jesus of Roswell, Raquel Hiltibidal of St. Louis, Mo, Ofelia Chavez and her husband Jake of Capitan, two sons; James Gonzalez and his wife Rosa of Roswell, Ramon Gonzalez Jr. and his wife Alicia of Roswell, fifteen grandchildren; Robert Jr., David and Rick Avina, Susie Zahn, Anita Hale, James Gonzalez Jr., Yvette Saenz, Ericka Prince, Bryan, Jeff and Denise Gonzalez, Ruben and Michael Chavez, Sergio and Gabriel Gonzalez, twenty five great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren,numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Ramon was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Raul Gonzalez. Pallbearers will be Robert Avina, Bryan Gonzalez, Gabriel Gonzalez, Michael Chavez, David Avina and Ricky Avina. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren and Ruben Esquivel Sr., a very dear friend.
