Because remembering her is easy, I do it every day, But there’s an ache within my heart That will never go away. With profound sorrow, immeasurable love, and an ache that words can barely hold, we share that our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Ramona Hernandez, was called home on September 12, 2025. She quietly left our loving hands into the arms of our Lord, wrapped in peace and surrounded by love. Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." – John 14:27 To know Mom was to know kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. She was our first good morning and our last good night — truly the heart of our family. Her laughter was infectious, her energy immeasurable, and her courage unmatched. She loved fiercely and her loyalty was unfaltering. Ramona lived fearlessly and fully, never letting life’s challenges dim her light. Even in illness, her humor and strength carried us all. Her presence was big, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void. Born on January 11, 1961, in Dexter NM, Ramona lived a life defined by love, generosity, and perseverance. Her greatest passion and profession was being a stay-at-home mom, a role she considered to be her most important. Later, she dedicated many years to Walmart, where she formed lasting friendships, until her well-earned retirement. However, no title meant more to her than being a mother. She loved her Peanut, a good yard sale, a trip to the casino, and her music. Above all, she loved her grandkids fiercely — spoiling them in all the ways only a nana can. Whether it was sneaking them a cup of coffee, remembering every single birthday, or simply sitting with them and listening, she made each one feel like the most important person in the world. Her legacy will live on through her family - fiancé, Joe Marquez, her children Jennifer Montez (Christopher Marin) (Richard Nieto), Amanda Flores (Eddy Flores), Jesse Jay Montez (Mariah Montez), Fabian Villa (Samantha Flores), and Robert Villa (Kimberly Villa). Grandchildren Zachary Mayes, Zariah Mayes, Nathaniel Flores, Ethan San Juan, Jacob Montez, Jesse Jay Jr. Montez, Annaliyah “VonVon” Villa, Selena Villa, Zayhli Villa, Aryani Canoles, Luciano Villa, Francisco Villa, Amari “Ramona” Villa as well as many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and countless cousins who will carry on her memory. She is preceded in death by her father, Luciano Hernandez and mother Carmen Lopez. Though our hearts are broken, we are endlessly grateful for every laugh, every dance, every long conversation, and every hug we were blessed to share with her. Her spirit will live on in every joyful moment we create and in every act of kindness we offer to others. Think about mom every day and do something in her memory because it is impossible to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. An outdoor graveside celebration of her life will be held at 9:00 am on September 26, 2025, at South Park Cemetery. In her honor, we invite you to share a cup of coffee with someone you love, leave your door open for a friend, dance a cumbia, or bless someone with kindness — just as she did for so many.
