Raul Morales Sr.

Raul Morales Sr. passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 84 in Lubbock, TX. Raúl was born on February 12, 1940, in Valle De Zaragoza, Chihuahua, Mexico to his parents Santos Morales and Carlota González. He married Carmen Mendoza on November 18, 1965, and they remained married for 58 years until the day of her death. Raul had a great passion and dedication to his family and his work that was beyond imagination. When he arrived in Roswell, he began working at Diamond A Cattle Co., where he worked in the feedlot. He liked to work with horses and cattle very much. After a few years, the cattle were sold and converted into an agricultural farm. Raul adapted to this and became a farmer. Within a few years he became the foreman of the farm and worked there for more than 40 years. The farm was sold, and he decided to retire, however, this did not last long, as he was too used to hard work. He began a second career at the age of 65 as an equipment operator on highway projects around Roswell. He continued this for about 10 years. After a small accident that hurt his back, he decided to try to retire again, and of course it didn't last long. Although he didn't work for anyone, he started a small garden to grow and sell chile. (Best Green Chile in the Pecos Valley). He continued this for many years and took great pride in growing the best chile he could. His dedication was impressive, to say the least. In his last days, when he began to feel ill, his biggest concern was not being able to sell the chile. He was very worried about it. Fortunately, his brother (Santos) stepped up and helped him fulfill one of his last wishes. Dad, you will be greatly missed by your family, who loved and respected you. You will also be missed by all the friends you made over the many years in Roswell. You will be missed by all your customers who bought from you the best chile in Roswell. We love you and miss you, Dad. We will always remember you. Thank you for everything you showed us in life. To be respectful, responsible and hardworking and to love, and help each other. Raúl is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Morales; parents: Santos and Carlota Morales; his grandparents: Melecio Morales and Refugia Casas; siblings: Carlos Morales, Josefina Betance and Celia Portillo. The pallbearers will be Raúl Morales Jr, Roberto Morales, Roberto Alec Morales, Lupe Morales, Cruz Javier Chávez, Pedro Betance, Carlitos Morales. The viewing will be at the Andeson Bethany Funeral Home on Thursday, October 7, 2024, from 3:00-6:00 pm, followed by the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Friday, October 8, 2024, at 10:00 am, a funeral mass will be celebrated at the St. John’s Catholic Church. The burial will follow after the services at South Park Cemetery. Where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Carmen. There will be a reception to follow immediately after the services at the "Ranchito" 5424 Chisum Rd. Roswell NM 88203. The family of Raul Morales would like to express their sincere thanks to his Dr. Sarah East-Brumana, the staff of the Lovelace emergency department and the ICU at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock TX. Raúl nació el 12 de febrero de 1940 en Valle de Zaragoza, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Santos Morales y Carlota González. Se casó con Carmen Mendoza el 18 de noviembre de 1965 y permanecieron casados durante 58 años hasta el día de su muerte. Raúl tenía una gran pasión y dedicación a su familia y a su trabajo que iba más allá de la imaginación. Cuando llegó a Roswell, comenzó a trabajar en Diamond A Cattle Co., donde trabajó en el corral de engorde. Le gustaba mucho trabajar con caballos y ganado. Después de unos años, el ganado se vendió y se convirtió en una granja agrícola. Raúl se adaptó a esto y se convirtió en agricultor. A los pocos años se convirtió en el capataz de la granja y trabajó allí durante más de 40 años. La granja se vendió y decidió retirarse, sin embargo, esto no duró mucho, ya que estaba demasiado acostumbrado al trabajo duro. Comenzó una segunda carrera a la edad de 65 años como operador de equipos en proyectos de carreteras alrededor de Roswell. Continuó así durante unos 10 años. Después de un pequeño accidente que le lastimó la espalda, decidió intentar retirarse nuevamente y, por supuesto, no duró mucho. Aunque no trabajaba para nadie, comenzó un pequeño huerto para cultivar y vender chile. (Mejor Chile Verde en el Valle de Pecos). Continuó esto durante muchos años y se enorgullecía de cultivar el mejor chile que podía. Su dedicación fue impresionante, por decir lo menos. En sus últimos días, cuando comenzó a sentirse enfermo, su mayor preocupación era no poder vender el chile. Estaba muy preocupado por eso. Afortunadamente, su hermano (Santos) dio un paso al frente y lo ayudó a cumplir uno de sus últimos deseos. Papá, tu familia te extrañará mucho, ya que te quería y respetaba. También te echarán de menos todos los amigos que hiciste a lo largo de los años en Roswell. Todos tus clientes que te compraron el mejor chile de Roswell te echarán de menos. Te queremos y te echamos de menos, papá. Siempre te recordaremos. Gracias por todo lo que nos mostraste en la vida. Ser respetuosos, responsables y trabajadores y amarse y ayudarse unos a otros. El velatorio será en la Funeraria Andeson Bethany el jueves 7 de octubre de 2024, de 3:00 a 6:00 pm, seguido del Santo Rosario a las 6:00 pm. El viernes 8 de octubre de 2024, a las 10:00 horas, se celebrará una misa funeral en la Iglesia Católica de San Juan. El entierro continuará después de los servicios en el cementerio de South Park. Donde será enterrado junto a su esposa Carmen. Habrá una recepción inmediatamente después de los servicios en el "Ranchito", 5424 Chisum Rd., Roswell, NM 88203.
