Raye Miles

Raye Miles Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Dolah Raye Olsson Miles, age 102, of Roswell, NM, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020. On July 8, 1917, Raye was born in Bluitt, NM, to William Young Olsson and Nellie O'lena Swaim Olsson. She married Edgar Miles on December 19, 1942, and had two children, Philip Alan Miles and Phylis Ann Miles. Preceding Raye in death is her husband, parents, and siblings: Odie, Othel, Orbie, Leon, and Annie Lou. Raye is survived by her son, Philip Miles and wife Donna; daughter, Phylis King; grandchildren: Abby and husband Steve, James and wife Christina, Joshua and wife RoseAnn, Lori and husband John, Mathew and wife Kesha, Lacey; great-grandchildren: Paul and wife Taylor, James, Camillo, Phillip, Aubrey, Wade, John, Joshua, Mckenzie, Attilyn, Josephine, Elyse; one great-great-grandson Braxton, as well as one more on the way! In the 102 years, Raye was alive, and she truly knew how to get the most out of life. Her dedication and devotion to God were at the forefront of her life. Raye’s faith in Jesus was apparent in how she treated those close to her and those she knew in passing. Anyone that intimately knew Raye would tell you her love was unconditional and genuine. She would treat people equally and believed and saw the best in everyone, in spite of their lifestyle, income, or disposition in life. Raye had a unique way to make anyone feel like they were the favorite and special. Raye’s life was always spent serving others, not only by making sure her grandchildren attended church, but all of their friends too. Every Sunday, she would get herself ready then head to six-mile hill, then to East Grand Plains and many times picking up kids in between. Raye never spent her time lecturing anyone on how to live; she just showed them by the life she led. Her mornings were spent praying for her family and others that needed their problems lifted up to the Lord. We can compare much of Raye’s life to the life of Christ. In the book of Matthew, Chapter 141: verses 13-21, a large crowd had gathered upon Jesus’ return. The disciples asked Jesus to send the crowd away because they did not have enough to feed them, they only had five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus took the loaves and fish, holds them up to the heavens, and feeds the crowds. Raye was not rich monetarily, but she was able to take the five loaves and two fish and feed many. She lived a full life, one that was selfless, one that blesses, one that shows faith can move mountains, and one that was full of endless love. Raye was loved by many. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and the ones that she has met in passing. Just as God's promise to Abraham, to make him the Father of many Nations and generations after him receiving the blessings of God. Raye’s legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Raye’s great-grandsons. Blessed to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Raye’s great-granddaughters. A Funeral Service will be held at Roswell First Church of the Nazarene, 501 N Sycamore, Roswell, NM, on Thursday, January 30, 2020, 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Park.
