ROGER D. MEEKS, 68, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Roger’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. SERVICES: According to Roger’s wishes, there will be no services. On March 23, 1951, Roger was born to Johnny Q and Dorothy Hobbs Meeks Kittrell in Roswell, New Mexico. He married Sherry Meeks on October 16, 1972, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Roger joined the US Marine Corps on 13-10-69 and was honorably discharged on 01-03-70. During his military service, he received his GED, served in Vietnam and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Roger later attended classes at ENMU-Roswell. Prior to retirement, Roger worked as a mechanic and a car dealer. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Salvation Army, and Humane Society. Roger enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and gambling. He liked watching and reading old western movies and books. Roger’s favorite football team was the San Francisco Forty-Niners. His favorite songs were “Whispering Pines” and “I’ve got friends in low places.” Roger will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. SURVIVORS: Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Simcox Meeks; son, Ian Meeks; siblings: Johnny E. Meeks, Deborah Meeks Jones, Judy Meeks Marling (Wesley), Susie Meeks Russell (Ronnie), Richard G. Meeks, Edward E. Meeks, Robert A. Meeks, Janet L. Meeks Roche; aunt, Shirley Blanscet (Tommy); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; best dog budds who met him at the gate: Truck and Buddy; and close friend, Robert Murphy. PRECEDED: Roger was predeceased by his parents, Johnny Q and Dorothy Hobbs Meeks Kittrell; brothers: Richard G. Meeks, Edward E. Meeks, Robert A. Meeks; and best friend, Danny R. Noble. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Chosen to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are: Tommy Blanscet, Jim Gould, and Glynn Turner. PALLBEARERS: Honored to serve as Pallbearers are: Johnny E. Meeks, Wesley Marling, Ronnie Russell, Walter Mains, Zachary Long, and Jimmy E.
