Roy Lee Burleson

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Roy Lee Burleson, 74, passed away on January 21, 2018, at his home in Roswell, NM. A Memorial Service will be at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2018, 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Our dad did his best raising us. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and back-roading. He served our country in the Army. But more than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and drinking his Pepsi. We will dearly miss him. We love you Daddy – always.” Preceding Roy in death were his parents: Carl Bud Burleson and Juanita L Burleson; great-grandparents, Granny and Grandpa Looney, Andre and Christopher Franco/Burleson; niece, Lori Sanders; and most beloved dog, Dakota (aka Kota Bear). Surviving to cherish the memory of Roy are his ex-wife, Brenda Burleson; children: Wendi L Franco and husband, Ray Franco of Roswell, NM, Roy L Burleson Jr and wife, Bernadette Burleson of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Brenda Callahan of Roswell, NM, Diane Greenwood of Roswell, NM, Penny Burleson of Roswell, NM; grandkids: Arianna Franco, Carl Burleson, Michael Hopper and wife Destiny Hopper, Brianna Burleson, Nicolette Harrington and husband, Milton Harrington, Dallas Burleson of Texas, Cathleen Callahan of Texas, and Melanie Fraser of California, Tony Garcia of Michigan; great-grandchildren: Payton, Luke, Hope, Faith and numerous more great-grandchildren; his only brother, Dennis Burleson and wife, Yvonne Burleson of Oklahoma; sister, Teresa of Oklahoma; nephews: Doug Sparnom and wife, Maryann Sparnom and kids, Karisa Burleson Bates and her husband of Oklahoma, Chris Burleson of Oklahoma, A.J. Dominquez as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. His beloved dog, Suzie Q (aka his huzzy) also survives Roy. Those blessed to be Honorary Pallbearers are: Carl Burleson, Tony Garcia, Milt Herrington, and Johnathan Sparnom. Those chosen to serve as Pallbearers are: Roy Burleson, Ray Franco, Dennis Burleson, Chris Burleson, David Lujan, and Doug Sparnom. Roy’s family would like to give a special “Thanks” to Jane Bullock, his caregiver, who went above and beyond her duties to take care of Roy. Also “Thank You” to everyone who gave a helping hand.
