A memorial service for Roy Vargas Jr., 47, of Roswell will be held at 2 p.m. , Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home with the Rev. Enrique Trujillo officiating with the assistance of Frankie Garcia. Roy passed away July 31, 2010. Roy was born February 4, 1963 in Roswell, NM. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and playing cards. Most of all Roy loved to go on field trips with his mother and sister Rita. He was a boxer for Roswell Boys & Girls Club, and PALS. Roy was a fighter!! Roy is survived by his parents, Nellie and Roy Vargas, Sr.; two brothers Ralph Vargas and wife Nicole and their children, Ralphé Noel Vargas, Tierra Vargas and companion Juan and their children Mareah and Juan Gonzalez Jr., of Roswell; Alfred Montoya and wife Norma and their children ,Joey, Josephina and Angel Montoya of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Rita Vargas and her children Pete Carrasco III and fiancé Jasmin and their daughter Alexia, Dominique and Angelique Carrasco of Roswell. Renee Trujillo and husband Eric and their children, Michael Trujillo, Gabriel Trujillo and Britany Palma of Roswell. He is also survived by his four sons, Frankie Archuleta, Roy and Larry Vargas and George Valenzuela and their wives and children; numerous aunts, uncle and cousins who hold a special place in Roy’s heart; childhood friend Frankie Garcia who was always there to pray and give guidance to Roy; and Stella his beloved dog who was always by his side. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Dora Lucero; Albert and Senora Vargas; two uncles, Larry “Waterdog” Lucero, Chon Chacon and a cousin, Jose Quintero. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby and Yolanda Archuleta and anyone whose heart Roy touched. The family wants to say “Thank You” to his aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends who showed their love and support to the family.
