SERVICES: A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1111 N Roselawn Ave, Artesia, NM, on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 6:30 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery. On March 30, 1955, Rubin was born to Elias and Julia Garcia in Artesia, New Mexico. He was a self-employed cement contractor prior to retirement. Rubin was a proud veteran of the US Navy and was honorably discharged on 17 July 1974. He loved to go on walks and spend time with his grandchildren and daughters. Rubin enjoyed watching the world news, but most of all, he loved eating sweets, chocolate cake, and pumpkin empanadas. His spirit, smile, and presence will be greatly missed, and the memories Rubin shared with his family and friends will forever remain in their hearts. SURVIVORS: Rubin is survived by his ex-wife and mother of their children, Maria F. Vasquez; children: Crystal Garcia and husband Ernest Banegas, Angela Garcia; godson, Orlando Sedillo; step-mother, Maria Elena Garcia; grandchildren: Krystian Beltran, Lizabel Salazar, Rigo Alvarado, Kayden Munoz, Sierra Beltran, Zaynah Ortega, Alexis Munoz, Julian Munoz; siblings: Nora Sanchez (Lorenzo), Alma Hernandez (Alex), Fred Garcia (Billie Jean), Lorenzo Orozco, Leo Orozco (Marie); aunt, Aurora Reyes; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends: Adam Lara, Sylvia (Boogie) and Raul Ramirez, Triene and David Ramirez; caregiver, Fransisca Molina; and loving pet, Boo Boo Garcia, his son, best friend, and partner in crime. PRECEDED: Preceding Rubin in death: his parents, Elias “Chito” Garcia, and Julia Reyes Garcia; grandparents: Atilano and Manuela Reyes, Manuel and Raquel Garcia; and brother, Elias Garcia Jr. HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Chosen to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Ernest Banegas, Michael Banegas, Nehemiah Almanza, Adam Lara, Nathan Ryno, Phillip Garcia, Garrett Garcia, and Jesus Munoz.
