Sergio Gutierrez Chairez

Beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend, Sergio Gutierrez Chairez, was sent to be with the angels in heaven on Sunday, March 21, 2021. On December 23, 1989, Sergio was born in Roswell, NM, to Benito Chairez Sr. and Delfina Gutierrez Chairez. He lived in the Dexter-Midway area all of his life. Sergio was a very hard worker and dedicated truck driver, and he started as an owner-operator at a young age. He loved spending time with his brothers and friends. Sergio was a Redskin’s fan and enjoyed his conversations with his brothers about his team. He loved to sing, listen to music, and play his guitar. Although Sergio was a quiet soul, he had an infectious smile, just like his mother. He will always be remembered as being one of the first to give the shirt off his back to help anyone. Sergio also had a soft heart and loved his dog, “Cutie.” Sergio is preceded in death by his loving mother, Delfina Chairez of Dexter-Midway, NM; grandmother, Patricia “Patsy” Aguilera of Dexter, NM; grandfather, Nicholas Chairez of Nuevo Margaritas, Coahuila; great-grandparents: Francisco and Virginia Banda of Dexter, NM; and his uncles: Santos Perez of Juarez, MX, and Jesus Trinidad of Durango, MX. Those left to cherish memories of Sergio are his father, Benito Chairez Sr. of Nuevo Margaritas, Coahuila; brothers: Benito Chairez Jr. and Isaac Chairez, of Dexter-Midway, NM; grandmother, Paula Chairez of Nuevo Margaritas Coahuila; numerous aunts and uncles: Pedro Aguilera of Dallas TX, Juan and Veronica Chairez of Roswell NM, Beatriz Hernandez Chairez of Nuevo Margaritas Coahuila, Miguel and Yolanda Rodriguez of Dexter NM, Danny and Irma Rodriguez of Carlsbad NM, Juan and Sonya Banda of Dexter NM, Joe and Melissa Banda of Dexter NM, Frank and Stacy Banda of Roswell NM, and Ernest Gutierrez of Louisville KY; as well as many other loving family members, cousins, and friends. There will be a Viewing for Sergio on Sunday, March 28, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Sergio will be remembered by all who loved him with a Mass at St. Peters Catholic Church on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM, followed by a Graveside Service at South Park Cemetery. A gathering to follow at the Ponderosa Center, 1600 E. Poe, Roswell, NM. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share their loving stories of Sergio with everyone. Pallbearers are: Ricardo Chairez, Adrian Zambrano, Juan Chairez, Joseph Ponce, David Magpie, Ervey Marquez, Daniel Rendon, Jose Ibarra, Jorge Ibarra, and David Bañuelas. Honorary pallbearers are: father, Benito Chairez, Sr.; and his brothers, Benito Chairez Jr., and Isaac Chairez. Sergio fue muy trabajador y un conductor de camiónes dedicado, y comenzó como propietario-operador a una edad temprana. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con sus hermanos y amigos. Sergio será recordado por todos los que lo amaron con una misa en la Iglesia Católica de San Pedro el Lunes 29 de Marzo de 2021, a las 11:00 AM, seguido por un Servicio de Entierro en el Cementerio South Park. Una reunión seguira en el Centro de Ponderosa, 1600 E. Poe, Roswell, NM. Familiares y amigos son bienvenidos a asistir y compartir sus lindas historias de Sergio con todos.
