Vincent Matta 4/10/37 – 8/19/21 Vincent Matta, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. There will be a viewing from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Vincent was born on April 10, 1937, to Bruno and Refugia Matta in Balmorhea, Texas. He was married to his beloved wife, Mary Matta, for 64 blissful years after their matrimony on October 11, 1956. Together, they started a family and from the love they shared, they had two children, Larry Matta, and Margaret Matta. Vincent worked as a painter and contractor for most of his life and was a master of his craft. He had a heart for mentoring children and served as a volunteer little league baseball coach for many years. Vincent was also a member of the St. John’s Men’s club and participated in various activities within their parish and the community, benefiting and entertaining Roswell’s local residents. Watching old television Westerns was one of Vincent’s favorite pastimes along with football and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboy’s football team. Through the Senior Bowling league, Vincent remained active and enjoyed friendly competition among him and his peers. Vincent was a loving husband, respected father and grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Left to cherish Vincent’s memory are his wife, Mary Matta; son, Larry Matta; grandson, Andrew Matta of Phoenix Arizona; great-grandchildren: Andres, Castiel and Raine, all of Phoenix Arizona; brothers: Tony Matta of Albuquerque, Bruno Matta, and Mike Matta, both of Roswell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vincent is preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Matta; parents, Bruno and Refugia C. Matta; brothers: Frank Matta and Fred Matta; and sisters: Manuela Rey, Helen Castillo and Aurora Matta. Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Sandy Sarli, Freddy Matta, Andrew Servantez and Larry Matta.
