Wilma L. Duffy

Wilma L. Duffy, 88, passed through death after a short illness into eternity on Feb. 24, 2014, and is now “absent from the body and face to face with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). The driving force in Wilma’s life was her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and she could proudly say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” ( II Timothy 4:7-8). Wilma was born in Hagerman, NM on March 9, 1926, to Donal Lee and Alma Irene Newsom. She resided in Roswell most of her life and is a member of First Baptist Church. Wilma is survived by 3 children from her marriage to John W. Patterson: Karen Nichols of Cypress, TX; John Steven Patterson and wife, Cherie, from Van, TX; Donald Richard Patterson and wife, Shay, from Lake Dallas, TX. She has 3 step-children from her marriage to Francis J. Duffy: Joe Duffy and wife, Kathy, of Albuquerque, NM; John Duffy and wife, Debbie, of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Jeanne, of Las Cruces, NM. She was a grandmother to Jason Eubank and wife, Kittie; Brent Eubank and wife, Erin; Jacquelyn Patterson; Curtis Patterson and wife, Brianna; Cody Patterson; Rachel Patterson. She was a step-grandmother to Connor, Shelby, Amy, and Robert, and a great-grandmother to Kassidy and Kambrey Eubank. Her siblings include Shirley Jennings and husband, Kenneth, of Roswell, NM; Jerry Newsom and wife, Diane, of Shawnee, OK. Her family also includes numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Wilma will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, Roswell, NM. Burial is to follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, from 5 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Eubank, Brent Eubank, Cody Patterson, Randy Jennings, and Mathew Jennings. The family would like to thank all of her friends for the support they have given her through the years and especially during this difficult time. Also, we thank all of the medical professionals who assisted during her illness.
