Priscilla Franco

Priscilla was born in Manzano, New Mexico on November 9th, 1937, to Veronica “Nana” Sigala-Giron and Adolario “Tata” Sigala. Priscilla was the third of eight children: Librada “Mary” Lucero, Filiberto “Phil” Sigala, Ralph Sigala, Terri Lopez, Antonio “Sonny” Sigala, Cecilia “Sissy” Sigala, and Joe Sigala. When she was sixteen years-old, Priscilla met Santos Franco, who was the brother of one of her friends. Santos was the love of her life. They would walk to the Pecos Theater in Roswell, go out for hamburgers at the Hippo-Burger, and dance at Roswell’s Cielito Lindo Hall and Hagerman’s La Rosa. Santos and Priscilla married on September 29, 1955, and they continued to dance together at Franco family gatherings for 61 years until Santos passed away in 2017. In 1959, the family moved to 1515 South Garden, which still remains the family home, and has always been a place where all are welcome. During those years, Juan (“Johnny”), Robert (“Bobby”), Santos Jr, Freddy, Lynda, and Ruben were born. The love Santos and Priscilla had for one another, and the life and family they built together is an example for us all. Every day you would find a friend, brother, sister, son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandchild, nephew, niece, or a great-grandchild visiting Santos and Priscilla at the family home. The phone would always be ringing, too, as Priscilla’s many friends often called to say “Hi.” To this day, the extended Franco family still gathers at the home to tell jokes and eat good food, with Priscilla providing plenty of both. No one has figured out how to make her salsa, but some family members claim to have gotten close a few times. Later in life, Priscilla owned her own company, Priscilla’s Cleaning Service, cleaning banks and other businesses around Roswell. She enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren, always making sure they were well-fed and well-loved. The grandkids have fond memories of Grandma Prissy making everyone stay up until midnight on Christmas Eve to open presents, and piling in the family van for birthday trips to Peppermint Park and Peter Piper Pizza. As they grew up and had kids of their own, Priscilla’s great-grandchildren experienced her unconditional love as well. Priscilla was preceded in death by her mother Veronica Sigala and father Adolario Sigala; siblings Mary Lucero, Filiberto “Phil” Sigala, and Joe Sigala; her precious daughter Lynda Franco; and the love of her life and spouse of 61 years Santos Franco Sr. Priscilla is survived by her son, Johnny Franco and spouse, Yolanda Franco (children: Lisa, Chris, Gino); son, Bobby Franco and spouse, Becky Franco (children: Sonya, Danielle, Robert Daniel); son, Santos “Jr” Franco and spouse, Donna Franco (children: Santos III, Paul, Sarah); son, Freddy Franco (children: Chris, Freddy Jr, Jennifer); and son, Ruben Franco and spouse, Julie Franco (children: Fabian, Brianna, Damian). The family would also like to thank family and friends that were close to Priscilla including: Stevie and Tootsie Gonzales and the entire Gonzales family, niece Betty Jane Garcia, nephew Ramon Sigala, and special friends Viola Vigil and Sheila Lopez. Those chosen to serve as Honorary Pallbearers are Priscilla’s grandchildren: Gino Romero, Chris Romero, Lisa Medina, Sonya Franco-Williams, Danielle Franco, Santos J. Franco III, Paul Franco, Sarah Franco, Chris Montano-Franco, Freddy Franco Jr., Jennifer Franco Virrueta, Fabian Franco, Damian Franco, Brianna Franco, and Robert Daniel Franco; Priscilla’s great-grandchildren: Mikey Amador, Jordan Amador, Johnny Amador, Alyssa Romero, Amelia Romero, Joey Romero, Jasmyn Green-Franco, Jaselyn Williams, Armando Vargas-Franco, Adrian Vargas, Adryella Vargas, Isabel Franco, Alison Franco, Aaron Montano, Nathaniel Salazar, Haeli Montano, Mila Franco, Elijah Franco, Amaia Franco, Alaya Virrueta, and Sarah and Luis’s baby due in July; and Priscilla’s great-great-grandchild Adrian Vargas Jr. Pallbearers are Johnny Franco, Bobby Franco, Santos Franco Jr, Freddy Franco, Ruben Franco, and Ramon Sigala.
