Andres Veloz Gutierrez, 73, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment to share a kind thought or memory with Andres’ family at www.andersonbethany.com. Services to honor Andres will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 5:00 PM and a mass to follow at 6:00 PM. Andres Veloz Gutierrez was born on November 10, 1951, in Juan Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Cleofas Veloz Hernandez and Florentina Gutierrez. Andres began his time in the working field at TMC Bussing Plant and later moved on to working in the construction field; he worked for many years as a laborer, helping to remodel people’s homes and building barns. Andres was a talented musician who could play many instruments including the accordion, piano, and guitar. A passion for music ran in his family, so much so that they started a family band named Grupo Cañon. He had many wonderful attributes to him but some of the most notable were his desire to help anyone in need and his willingness to joke around with anyone, especially his family. Those left to eternally treasure their memories of Andres are his children: Aimee Cardenas (Jr), Noehmy Medrano (Eddie), Lionel Aguilar (Kristen), and Adam Payan (Dora); grandchildren: Emmanuel A. Cardenas of Dexter, NM, Andres E. Cardenas of Dexter, NM, Magali Barraza (Henry) of Dexter, NM, Jeniffer Medrano, of Hagerman, NM, Jessie Medrano (Taylor) of Hagerman, NM, Amy Janelle Payan of New York, Greg Morales (Crystal) of Dallas, TX, Daniel Fitzpatrick of San Antonio, TX, Lionel Aguilar Jr. of Lubbock, TX, Andrew Aguilar (Celest) of Lubbock, TX, Cassandra Aguilar of Lubbock, TX, David Maciel (Crystal) of Lubbock, TX, Gloria Molina (Benjamin), Anthony Aguilar of Lubbock, TX, Noah Aguilar of Lubbock, TX, and Cortland Stickler of Lubbock, TX; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and multiple great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Amalia Hernandez of Roswell, NM, Luis Veloz of Hagerman, NM, and Eulalia Avila Veloz, of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Andres is preceded in death by his parents, Cleofas Veloz Hernandez and Florentina Gutierrez; siblings, Jose Veloz, Ejinio Veloz, Juan Carlos Veloz, and Carmen Barraza; grandson, Hector Ray Medrano. I would like to give a very special thank you to the following people, my mother-in-law, Alejandra, as she was there to help in any way with my dad, daily, no matter the time; the staff at Sunset Villa Health for all the help and care: Lupita, Valerie, Sean, Tamara, and so many more of you; Interim Hospice for all the care and support, day in and day out. To my family -- my Tia Rafaela Veloz has also been there unconditionally; Gloria, Nena, my sister-in-law, I’m so lucky to have your support, especially during these hard times.
