Crystal Simmons

Crystal Xan Simmons was reunited with her grandbabies in Heaven on January 4, 2024, at 7:45 pm. She was 46 years old. She was born on August 16, 1977, and was raised in Roswell, NM. After she graduated from Goddard High School, she spent many years in the hospitality industry. She managed multiple hotels and performed every job that came with that title - whether that meant she was the housekeeper or the front desk clerk or served breakfast. She always did what needed to get done. She ventured out into other employment opportunities and spent time as a Dispatcher in the oilfield and as a bookkeeper for a grocery store in her final years here on earth. She had a Gypsy Soul and spent many years living on the road in an RV. She was able to see so much of the United States during that time of her life. She taught herself to crochet (she was a self-proclaimed “hooker”) and gifted her friends and family with blankets, scarves, hats and her specialty - messy bun beanies. She enjoyed visiting museums, thrifting, symphony orchestras and porch sittin’. She loved nature and when they were younger, she would take her daughters hiking, camping, and arrowhead hunting. She treasured her friends and would always show up for a friend in need. Crystal had four true loves in her life. The first were her daughters, Brooklynn and Alexandra. She was a loving, caring mother, truly one of a kind. The second were her grandbabies, Andrez, Jr. (AJ) and Adalina (Nina). She was so excited to be called Memaw. She never fully recovered from their loss. She was met at the doors of heaven by her parents, Rita Gratz and William (Bill) Treat, her grandbabies Andrez (AJ) and Adalina (Nina) Herrera, sisters Donna Lollis, Hazel Gratz, Xan Carpenter and brother Raymond Gratz Jr. Those left to cherish the memories of Crystal are her daughters: Brooklynn (Andrez) Aguilar, and Alexandra Lewis; her Parents in-law: Richard and Donna Lee; sister, Tiffany Johnson; sister in-law, June Lee; brother in law, Tony Lewis; nephews: Richard and Joseph Lee, and Eddie Carpenter; nieces: Brandy and Billie Carpenter; along with many cousins and loving friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ’s Church, 2200 N. Sycamore Avenue on Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 am. Crystal’s favorite color was purple. She’s the place you come from, your first home. She’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy. But nothing on Earth can separate you. Not time. Not space. Not even death.
