Daniel Rivera

Daniel Markus Rivera, 19, passed away on June 16, 2016, in Roswell, NM. He was born February 7, 1997, in Roswell, NM, to Alfred Rivera and Irene Montoya. A high school graduate and student, there are many memories to share of Daniel. His free spirit, love of listening to music, and talent to make others laugh with his different sense of humor, are a few to mention. Daniel was service oriented and a very hard worker, who spent his free-time volunteering at the Unity Center. He was a math whiz, with a love for art. Time with family and friends was something Daniel couldn’t get enough of, and everyone loved him for that. Daniel was a good son, brother and grandson. It was said, that he was ‘Gram’s’ most handsome grandson. He loved his girlfriend, Margo. There are so many lives that have been touched by Daniel. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Preceding him in death are his grandmother, Guadalupe Rivera; great grandparents: Eva Vega and Abaristo Montoya, Albertha and Rafael Rivera, Santiago and Amelia Sifunetes; and aunt, Sylvia Wilson Those left to cherish the memory of Daniel are his mother, Irene Montoya of Roswell, NM; father, Alfred Rivera and wife, Gabriella of Rio Rancho, NM; father, Daniel Muñoz, Jr. of Roswell, NM; sisters: Alexis Muñoz of Albuquerque, NM, and Gabriella Ruiz of Roswell, NM; brothers: Nikolas Rivera and significant other, Domi of Heidelberg, Germany, and Dominic Muñoz of Roswell, NM; ‘grams’, Aurora Cecelia Vela of Lubbock, TX; grandmothers: Margarita Sufuentes-Páiz of Kansas City, MO, and Darlene Caudill of Roswell, NM; grandfather, Gilbert Rivera, Sr. of Farmington, NM; and ‘papu’, Daniel Muñoz, Sr. of Roswell, NM. Also surviving Daniel are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and too many friends to list. Viewing will be Monday, June 20, 2016, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016, 10:00 AM at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bishop Phil Davis, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Following the burial family will receive guests at the National Guard Armory, located at 1 W. Earl Cummings Loop in Roswell, NM. Honorary pallbearers are his brothers and all of his friends. Pallbearers are Dominic Dunlap, Nikolas Rivera, Lucas Montoya, Ermando Carrillo, Matthew Rivera, Keaton Sharp, Oliver Cortinas, and Leroy Gonzales, Jr. A MESSAGE FROM MOM “This has been the worst 24 hours of my life. Literally my darkest time. I want to thank everyone who has taken time out to contact me and the kids, or my mom, just everyone that has reached out to our family. I miss my baby so much. Dan was just so great. Everyone knows he was hilarious, fun-loving, and a free spirit. He had such a great heart. He was a great brother to his brothers and sisters. He loved both of his dads. He tried to help take care of Uncle because Auntie and Uncle meant so much to him. He loved his little brother so much. He didn’t want anyone else to make him do things, but he had no problem getting him up and putting him in the shower with all of his clothes on. There are so many great memories of him.
