Obituary for James W. “Bill” Logan Funeral services for James W. “Bill” Logan, 79, of Roswell will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sean Lee of Grace Community Church officiating. Bill passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Casa Maria Health Care Center. Bill was born May 1, 1928 in Roswell. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1946. He worked his entire life at the Roswell Daily Record. While at the Record he set type for many years, including many famous headlines. He loved the newspaper and everyone he worked with. After retirement, he continued to enjoy placing wagers every year on his Cowboys with Mr. Robert H. Beck. Bill proudly served at the Elks Club throughout his life, volunteering for anything they needed. This included managing the game room for the last ten years. This kept his mind quick and sharp even though his legs weren’t anymore. He was a Past Exalted Ruler and he especially enjoyed the Christmas parties held each year by the Elks for children with special needs. He cared deeply for the Elks Club and all its members. Bill and his granddaughter were each other’s world. He gave her every great memory of her childhood. He was the best grandfather in the world! Bill showed unconditional love at all times and knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face! His sense of humor was the best, almost as great as his memory. He could recall any event almost to the hour. He loved his grandson-in-law, Michael, and was looking forward to his first great-grandchild this coming summer. His giving spirit, laughter, hugs and generosity will be missed everyday. He touched so many people. Thank you’s to all, the amazing nurses at Roswell Regional Hospital, Dr. Whitwam. Dr. Wenner, Dr. English, and his staff for always taking such good care of him, and most importantly a special thank you to the close family and friends that took care of him daily and kept his spirits happy in his last few weeks. He loved them all dearly and they made his life special. Bill is survived by his granddaughter, Joanna Noga and her husband, Mike, of Chaparral, NM; and a host of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Nina Logan, grandmother, Lilly Wiseheart, and grandfather, Dr. James W. Wiseheart. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Dana, Dale Miller, Ken Fresquez, Rudy Candelaria, Bill Martin, and Shawn Mc Arthur. Directly after the services, family and friends will gather at the Roswell Elks Club to celebrate Bill’s life and tell great stories as he would have wished. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given in his name to the Cerebral Palsy Fund or the Roswell Humane Society.
