In Loving Memory of Jeanette Cribbs October 6, 1941 – May 6, 2025 With heavy hearts, the family of Jeanette Cribbs announces her passing on May 6, 2025. Jeanette was a self-determined, unforgettable woman who deeply loved her family and lived life on her own terms. Though often stubborn, she carried a warmth and strength that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Born on October 6, 1941, Jeanette shared a devoted and loving marriage with her beloved husband, Allan Roger Cribbs, whom she married on October 12, 1962. Together they built a life rich in love and laughter, raising two daughters, Arlene Hunley and Lorie Cathey, who were the pride and joy of her life. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved Allan, as well as her brothers Richard, Leo, and Ray, and her sisters Helen and Ernestine. Those surviving to cherish Jeanette’s memory are her daughters Arlene Hunley and her husband Darrell, of Colorado Springs, CO; Lorie Cathey and her husband Stephen, of Roswell, NM; her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Ricky Cribbs and his wife Annie, and grandson Levi; MJ Lewis and his wife Catie, and grandchildren Maxwell and Charlie; Christopher Lewis and his wife Abby, and granddaughter Katie; Alex Hunley and his wife Julia; Sean Lewis and his wife Kayla, and granddaughter Adaline; Dekka Hunley; and Shelby Davis and her husband Trevor, and grandsons Bentley, Westin, and Weyland. She is also survived by her brothers Buddy, Wally, and her twin brother Jim, all of Great Bend, Kansas, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Jeanette had many passions that brought her joy throughout the years. She loved needlepoint, crocheting, quilting, puzzle books, and watching TV game shows. She was an avid bowler and found great comfort and companionship in her dogs. A proud and active member of her community, Jeanette was affiliated with the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Aerie No. 3187, and the New Mexico State Defense Force Association. Her contributions and dedication will be remembered by many. Jeanette’s memory will be cherished always by her family and friends. She was truly one of a kind—strong-willed, fiercely loyal, and endlessly loving. The family is deeply saddened by her loss but finds comfort in the love she gave and the legacy she leaves behind. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service in her honor on October 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at McBride Memorial. Pastor Danny Sons will officiate. A celebration of her life will follow; those details will be released at a later date.
