Johnny DeLaO Hernandez, age 56, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2023, in Roswell, New Mexico. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Johnny will be deeply missed and remembered for his remarkable warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for his children and grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Born on December 21, 1966, in Roswell, New Mexico, Johnny was the cherished son of Juan F. Hernandez and MaryLou Hernandez. He attended Dexter High School, where he was involved in basketball, football, and track. On April 6, 1985, Johnny married Veronica Duran in Roswell, NM. Together, they were blessed with four wonderful children, Jonathan, JoVonna, Santana-Jade, and Jordan, each of whom carries a part of their father's spirit and passion for life. Johnny consistently felt a sense of pride and openly communicated his pride in his children. Johnny's presence extended far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of countless friends and acquaintances. Johnny spent the majority of his life searching for his purpose. After his son passed away, Johnny gave his life to the Lord and sought the right path to be a better father and grandfather. In January of 2023, Johnny credited The Bridge Artesia for assisting him to a better life and serving the Lord. His unwavering support for those around him will be remembered as a testament to his selfless and compassionate nature. He was also a West Main Baptist Church member in Artesia, NM. Johnny enjoyed drawing, driving, and listening to music in his free time. Whether spending time in nature or simply enjoying the company of loved ones, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. His infectious laughter and warm smile could light up any room, and his presence will be deeply missed. In honoring Johnny's memory, may we find solace in the cherished moments shared, the laughter that echoed, and the love he had spread. His legacy will endure in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. Johnny is survived by his mother, MaryLou Hernandez; Brother, Jimmy Hernandez; Sister, Silvia Aguilar, and husband, William Aguilar; Daughter JoVonna Garcia and husband Micheal Garcia; daughter Santana-Jade Hernandez and his “favorite daughter in law,” Kyara Sedillo, daughter Jordan Valverde and Husband Javier Valverde; grandchildren: Jaiden, Jocelyn, and Journey Wright, Aliana, Aubri, and Ace Valverde, Micheal, Isaiah, Lexi, and Jayden Garcia, nephews Vincent Aguilar, and Jimmy Juan Hernandez and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him very much. Johnny is preceded in death by his beloved son Jonathan R. Hernandez, his father Juan F. Hernandez, and Mama Juana DeLaO. Honorary Pallbearers will be his children, grandchildren, and brothers in Christ. Pallbearers: Matthew Torrez, Leroy Fuentes, Sylvia Leyba, Cynthia Vallejos, Kevin Hernandez, Elaine Huerta.
