Jose Benito Romero, 79, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Jose’s family at www.andersonbethany.com. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at New Covenant Fellowship Church, 1601 W McGaffey, Roswell, New Mexico on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A Wake will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the Memorial Service starting at 7 p.m. with Pastor Sam & Ruth. A Repast will happen immediately following the service at NCF Fellowship Hall. Interment will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lake Arthur Cemetery, Lake Arthur, NM. On March 24, 1945, Jose Benito Romero was born to Alejandro and Amalia Romero in Artesia, NM. Benito lived with his family in Lake Arthur which included his four brothers and five sisters. The Romero family moved to Roswell where Jose Benito had a wit about him like no other and had a heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out as much as he could. His nieces and nephews adored him along with the children of his friends. He was known for his friendliness and never hesitated to let people know that he loved them. Uncle Ben loved food, especially when it was shared by his family and friends. His sense of humor was second to none and he was as compassionate as he was funny. Being humbly social was a special gift upon which Ben was bestowed; those around him were drawn to his infectious and funny personality. Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted his personality. Ben touched the lives of so many people. He loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart and all his soul. Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Jose Benito Romero are his siblings: Erminia Romero of Roswell, NM, Vicki Romero of Artesia, NM, Elisa Marquez of Artesia, NM, Jessie and Rosa Vasquez of Bel Gardens, CA, Eloytta Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM, Adan and Priscilla Romero of Roswell, NM, George and Virgie Romero of Dexter, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. Jose Benito Romero is preceded in death by his wife, Berta Romero; his father and mother: Alejandro and Amalia Romero; his brother, Dionicio Romero; and his sister, Lucy Sosa. The family of Jose Benito Romero wishes to extend sincere thanks to Margarita De Rosa “Mage” who was Ben’s caregiver, thank you for being a blessing in Benito’s life. The Romero family would like to let you know how much you are appreciated. We are more grateful to you than words can express. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to make sure that my Uncle Benito was taken care of. We know how blessed Benito was to have you in his life.
