Obituary for Manuela Rios Gonzalez A rosary will be recited for Manuela Rios Gonzalez, 79, of Dexter at 7:00 pm Thursday, October 16, 2008, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Manuela at 1:30 pm on Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. John’s with Father Juan Montoya O.F.M. officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 am – 5 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery, Manuela passed away at Covenant Medical Hospital in Lubbock, TX. Manuela was born July 6, 1929 to Apolonio Rios and Maria Macias. She and Jesus Gonzalez were married on March 10, 1949 in San Jose, Texas and they later moved to Roswell where they lived for most of her life. Manuela received an Honorary High School Diploma on May 20, 1985 and received her United States Citizenship on May 24, 2000, which was her greatest accomplishment and was very proud to have become a Citizen of the United States. She loved gardening, enjoying her flowers and rose bushes and just spending time watering them. In addition to her husband, Jesus, Manuela is survived by her seven daughters; Adela G. Arreola and her husband Eddie of Dallas, TX, Mary C. Gonzalez, Martha Velador, Erma and Rebecca Gonzalez, all of Roswell, Frances Gomez and her husband Mike of Dexter, Olga Villa and her husband Joe of Midland, TX, three sons Jesus Gonzalez Jr. and his wife Margie of Midland, TX, Armando and Daniel Gonzalez of Dexter, one brother; Juan Rios and his wife Maria of Loving, NM, twenty-two grand-children and ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Manuela was preceded in death by her parents Apolonio and Maria Rios, four brothers; one grandson; Israel Madrid a great-grandaughter; Rylee Nicole Sedillo and best friend Beatrice De la Pena. Pallbearers will be Joe and Joey Villa, Mike and Eric Gomez, Rudy Gonzalez and Joseph Baeza. Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons Jesus, Armando and Daniel Gonzalez, her grandsons; Ryan and Dustin Velador, Michael John Gomez and her son-in-law, Eddie Arreola.
