Martha Torres

A prayer service is scheduled for Martha Torres, 67, of Roswell on Thursday, September 16, 2010, 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Martha passed away at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center on Monday, September 13, 2010. Martha was born on April 10, 1945 to Ernestina Quintana and Barnaby Moyers in Roswell, NM. She married her loving husband, Billy Torres, of 50 wonderful years on August 20, 1960 in Roswell, NM. Martha went to be in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her mission in life was to help the needy and the hungry. Martha was a Godly Christian woman and a member of The Assembly of God Church and Church of God for many devoted years. God has called her home, and her mission on earth is complete. Her favorite bible verse is John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Her favorite hymn was “One Day at a Time Sweet Jesus that’s all I’m asking from you.” Her faith was deep and her love for God could be seen in her acts throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched. Martha is survived by her husband, Billy Torres of Roswell; six children: Billy Torres Jr. and his wife Amanda of Midland, TX, Sammy Torres of Roswell, Sandra Brewer and her husband Bill of Roswell, Lilly Sills and her husband Mike of Gardendale, TX, Louie Torres and his wife Monica of Roswell, and Joel Torres and his wife Priscilla of Roswell; one sister Carmen Atkinson and her husband Thomas Atkinson of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren: Timothy Torres and his wife Anna of Roswell, Patrick and James Brewer of Roswell, Cheyenne Torres of California, Brianna, Esperanza, and Carolina Torres all of Roswell, Daniella Gladyz, and Michael and Michelle Sills of Gardendale, TX; one great grandchild Bella Torres; numerous nieces and nephews including T.J. and Rachel Atkinson, Stephanie Subarats and Natalie Atkinson both of Houston, TX, and several of Roswell; numerous cousins; great nephews; and great nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Bertha Moyers. Pallbearers will be Timothy Torres, Joel Torres, Louie Torres, Sammy Torres, Patrick Brewer and James Brewer.
