Maye Herron

Funeral services for Maye Herron Cox will be held Monday, September 26, 2011, 4:00 pm at Country Club Road Church of Christ with George Elkins officiating. Maye passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held Sunday, September2 5, 2011 from 3pm to 8pm at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home. She was born in Checotah, Oklahoma on July 1, 1934 to Gabe and Martha (Bullard)Herron. The family moved to Roswell in 1947. Maye married G.A. Cox in Carlsbad on September 30, 1950 and they raised three children. G.A. passed away in 1986. Maye was a very successful beautician for many years but her true love was her family. Her children, Patricia, Teresa and Gerald, as well as, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also cherished her many friends including her long time friend Dova Callihan and her newest friends and caretakers Elaine Gadberry and Andrea Velasco. She was a long time member of Country Club Road Church of Christ. Maye is survived by her children, Patricia and Larry Fitts, Teresa Wines and Hugh Roberts and Gerald and Lori Cox all of Roswell; grandchildren, Stuart Smith and Justin Smith both of South Carolina, Lauren Kreger of Halstead, KS, Candice Brown of Phoenix, AZ ., Ashley Wines of Albuquerque, NM, Laci Cox of Roswell; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Clements, Betty Walker and Vicky Larson; brothers, Sam Herron and Charlie Herron, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.A. Cox; daughter, Thela Faye; parents Gabe and Martha Herron; brother Albert Herron, twin sister Faye Parris, and little sister, Marilyn Herron.
