It is with great sadness that the family of Michelle L Pena Herrera announces her passing on June 17, 2024. She will be deeply missed, especially by her granddaughters Ahnesia and Jolissa whom she was raising. There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 10 am to 6 pm with a Rosary to follow at 6 pm. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Church on Saturday, June 22, at 10 am. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Michelle was born on March 23, 1970, in Roswell, New Mexico to Henry and Rose M. Herrera. On February 27, 1989, she welcomed her son Daniel R. Herrera and on December 1,1990, she welcomed her daughter Chasity R. Pena. Both children have preceded her in death as well as her parents: Henry and Rose Herrera; paternal grandparents: Antonio and Frances Herrera; maternal grandparents: Erminio and Consuelo Sanchez and Delicia Gustamantes; brothers: Henry “Sonny” Herrera Jr and Arthur “Hachie” Herrera; nephew, Rudy “Vato” Lucero; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her granddaughters: Ahnesia, Jolissa, Kianna and Neveaha; grandson, Daniel Jr; companion, Charles Stogden; as well as three others that she considered her daughters Tori, April and Valerie; sisters: Delicia Herrera (Robert), Yvette Martinez (Leroy), Martha Luna (Artie) and Theresa Jaramillo (Pat); brother, Tommy Contreras (Deanna); nieces: Lisa Jaramillo (Carlos) Stephanie Herrera (Gus), Amber Herrera and Mackenzie Contreras; nephews: Phillip Navarette (Stephanie), Gabriel Herrera (Lisa), Tim Herrera (Tori), JoeRay Perez (Amanda), Leroy Martinez Jr, Sonny Luna and Jeremy Luna (Mariah); thirteen great nephews; twelve great nieces; one great-great nephew; three great-great nieces; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and close cousins. Michelle was the outspoken one in the family. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family gambling, going to car shows, and she was determined to learn to ride the Harley she purchased a few years back, even if it was too big and she could barely touch the ground and reach the handlebars. She had recently gotten attached to a puppy, Bella, even though she always said she didn’t want any animals, especially inside. Up until a few months ago she worked for Leprino Foods just shy of 17 years as a Lab Tech where she gave all her coworkers her opinion, whether they wanted to hear it or not. She definitely had to have the last word, but at the end of the day, she would give you the shirt off her back. As much as she tried to show that she was made of steel, she truly had a big heart and deep down a soft spot. She was the biggest trash talker and could talk it with the best of them. She never missed a beat when it came to that. We will all miss her and her rude comments because if she wasn’t talking trash or giving you her opinion, then that meant she didn’t like you. Pallbearers will be Carlos “Bandit” Jaramillo, Phillip Navarrete, Tim Herrera, Joeray Perez, Tommy Contreras, Bebe Salazar, Dominic Herrera and Jose Nunez. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandkids, nieces and nephews, Frances Sanchez, Aileen Gomez, Sonia Anaya, Carolina Mendoza, Anna Salazar and Charles Stogden. The family would like to thank those that have come and given support and brought food, paper goods and just been there for us during this difficult time, it hasn’t gone unnoticed. We would ask that you continue to send prayers for her granddaughters Ahnesia and JoJo, they lost not only their “Nana “ but she was also their world.
