Pablo Contreras

It is with a sorrowful heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Pablo Contreras, husband, father, grandfather, and Great Papo. He passed away on February 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. Pablo was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on January 20, 1950, to Dominga Ruiz and Ramon Mejia, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Contreras, of 55 years, a daughter, Rosie Contreras and a son, Raymond M. Contreras. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Roman and Raelynn were always close by since they were babies. Now that they are older, they attend church with their Mamo on a regular basis. Pablo has three living siblings, Manuel Sanchez, Sammy Ruiz, and Dora Garcia. He had two deceased siblings, Robert Garcia and Virgie Ornelas who were waiting for him in Heaven. He also had many close loving cousins in Artesia, Carlsbad, and Albuquerque. Pablo retired from the Roswell Independent School District, after 28 and a half years. He took great pride in his work, no matter if it was painting, stripping gym floors, or moving lawn pipes at the school or whatever project that he undertook. He had a caring heart, wanting to be a servant to those that needed his assistance. He was baptized in Christ when he was 26 years old made an effort to live an acceptable Godly life. He was hopeful that he had been a great example for his kids and grandkids, so that they would follow in his footsteps. He shared the Lord's word with strangers when he established a communication with them and felt satisfied that he had shared his faith with that poor soul, as Jesus teaches us to be his disciples. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, whenever they would win but turned off the tube if they lost and went outside to work on the yard. He also enjoyed watching the Washington Commanders (Redskins) in addition to local football games that played the Artesia Bulldogs. Pablo's hobbies were to be in the backyard creating his woodwork "Dallas Cheerleader" creations or just creating fence artwork. He was always rearranging things in the garage and the shed, where Cecilia could never locate the things that she needed up to this day. Now, he is taking a well-deserved rest with our Heavenly Father and Savior. We are confident that we will see him again when our time comes. If he could speak to us today, he would want to thank everyone for being a small part of his life, he was touched by the friendships and brotherly love, that members of his congregation, demonstrated to him and his family. A memorial service is scheduled, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Country Club Road Church of Christ, located at 700 W. Country Club Road. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial gift to this congregation. The family will later be at the family residence should anyone wish to gather on that day.
