Obituary for Robert Ethen Merryfield Robert Ethen Merryfield was born on January 19, 1939 to Vernon Merryfield and Sylvia Thompson Merryfield in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Bob served his country with the United States Air Force. Bob was stationed at Walker Air Force Base Roswell and met the love of his life, Josephine “Joan” Trujillo. They were married December 23, 1958; she survives Bob at the family home. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Bob owned and operated Rite-way Insulation for twenty-seven years, until his retirement. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, and brother. Bob was always there for anyone who needed help; you could always count on Bob. He loved bowling, won many trophies in Milwaukee, and loved spending time with his family. His wife lovingly supported him, was his caregiver, best friend, and stayed by his side until the end. He courageously battled emphysema for sixteen years. When diagnosed he was given two years to live; through his will to live, the support of his family and the strength they provided him, he kept going. In addition to his wife, Joan, Bob is survived by his children, Mollie Guthrie of Stephen City, Virginia, Cathy Gomez and husband, Augustin, of Roswell, Robert Merryfield and wife, Carmen, of Austin, TX, Wendy Artiaga of Roswell, and Rick Merryfield of Roswell; a brother, Don Merryfield of Weslaco, TX; four sisters, Miriam Stalewski of Appleton, WI, Karen Leaders of West Allis, WI, Donna Mouridian and husband, Pete, of West Allis, WI, and Jan Merryfield of San Angelo, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Sylvia Merryfield. The family would like to thank the staff of Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, Dr Chechani, and all those who were involved in Bob’s care.
