Robert Murphy

Robert Edward Murphy, beloved son of the late Michael Francis Murphy and MaryAnn Uncapher Murphy, joined his father at the Rainbow Bridge, Sunday, June 21, 2015. Robert was born in Greensburg, PA, January 21, 1977, the only son of Michael Murphy and Linda Ruch Lubet. He attended grade school in Waco, TX, where he joined the Boy Scouts of America. Robert attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 15, earning 63 merit badges. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow. At the age 15, Robert was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease, which he overcame in eight months. After graduating from Cedar Hill, TX High School, Robert attended Wyoming Technical School in Laramie, where he received a certificate as a diesel mechanic. Robert moved to Roswell in 1999, to join his parents. He worked for a while at NovaBus, before joining the Navy. Robert attained the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, while serving aboard the USS Jacksonville, one of the first nuclear submarines commissioned by the United States Navy. After completing his enlistment, Robert remained on the East Coast working as a mechanic on tugboats. He returned to Roswell for a year before going back East. Robert was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders and proudly served beside his father and friends on several missions. Robert is survived by his step-mother, MaryAnn; his son, Declan Seamus; brother, Philip Lubet; aunt, Margaret Uncapher, of Blairsville, PA; uncles: Paul J. (Barbara) Uncapher, of Vintondale, PA; Marvin (Cindy) Uncapher and Michael (Dawn Ann) Uncapher, of Blairsville, PA; great aunt, Darl Grzybicki, of Blairsville, PA; mother, Linda Lubet, of Frederick, MD. Also surviving Robert are numerous cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, 1:00 PM, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust fund for his son, Declan Seamus Murphy at Pioneer Bank, in Roswell.
