Rodney Hendrix

On Monday, August 27, 2007, after a long, brave battle with cancer, Rodney Kirk Hendrix left this world to begin his life with his Creator. Rodney was born on April 24, 1964, to Howard and Eloise Hendrix in Roswell, New Mexico. Rodney is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vanessa Hendrix, and their daughter, Ashley Hendrix, both of the family home. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hendrix. He is also survived by his mother, Eloise Bishop; his sister, Patti Brisco and her husband, Harlin Brisco; his sister, Pam Garlinger and her husband, George Garlinger; his brother David Bell, all of Roswell; his brother Neal Hendrix-Sitzes and his wife Lynn Sitzes of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; and Vanessa's parents, Bob and Lorie Mitteer, also of Roswell and their daughter Suzette Brown of Ventura, California. Also surviving Rodney are his step-mother, Lois Hendrix and her sons Marvin Roberts and his wife, Linda Roberts of Roswell; Charlie Roberts and his wife, Vicky of Artesia, New Mexico; and her daughter Cindy Richardson and her husband, Jack of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends. Rodney was co-owner with his father of Western Wrecking Company and Hendrix Auto Sales for most of his adult life. He was most recently employed at Ritter & Company, CPA firm. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, camping, and most of all, spending time cooking for and entertaining his many friends and family. Rodney had a special ability to touch hearts and befriend people. His kind spirit lives on in all who knew him. The family wishes to thank the staff of VistaCare and the many doctors, nurses, and others who helped him along his journey. Also, a big thank you is extended to the staff of Ritter & Company and ENMU-R for their many acts of kindness and support during this past year. A graveside service will be held today, Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 at 2:30 pm at South Park Cemetery. Jerry McCreary will officiate. Immediately following the service there will be a reception held at First Baptist Church at 500 North Pennsylvania. Use west side entrance off of Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Rodney's memory.
