Obituary for Steven Lee Miller Funeral services for Steven “Steve” Lee Miller, 53, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at Elm Street Church of Christ, 1500 S. Elm Street with Rev. John Early Cannon, officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18th from 10am-8pm and Thursday, June 19th from 8am-8pm. Steve was born on March 20, 1955 to George Miller and Jessie Foetson in Roswell, New Mexico. Steve accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Smith Chapel, C.M.E., in Roswell. During his school days, Steve exhibited athletic abilities playing basketball. He loved to make the game winning “dunk” and flash that beautiful smile. Filled with an adventureous spirit, Steve joined the United States Army after high school in 1973. His military career helped to fuel his adventureous spirit as he traveled around the country. Steve certainly put a new spin on “discipline” while he served in the military. After Steve served in the military, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit to Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Georgia and New Mexico. Steve’s loving spirit endeared him to all that he came in contact with. Steve loved God, family and all the people who crossed his path. He was always eager to share laughter and a joke with that loving twinkle in his eyes and that beautiful smile. Inheriting his beloved mother’s caring spirit Steve’s greatest joy was to support his family and friends with love and enthusiasm. Even through his illness, he sheltered those he loved not showing how ill he really was. Steven Lee Miller made his “final dunk” departing this life’s basketball game on June 11, 2008. Steve leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of sixteen years, Gloria Miller of Artesia, NM; four stepchildren, Theresa, Jerome, Kanesha, and Rosie; ten grandchildren, Demario, Devionte, Deneija, DeAvion, Jamaal, Ky’Dae, Le’Aisa, Anecia, Ayiana, and Daierianna; two sisters, Patricia Ann Wafer of Mounds, MN and Joanna Miller of Aurora, CO; beloved nieces and nephews, Jessycca (Elijah) of Aurora, CO, Felice (Brian) of Buinsville, MN, Christopher of Mounds, MN, Roosevelt, Otis, Russell, Jimmy, and Lorenzo all of Odessa, TX; his ex-wife, Maggie Miller of Atlanta, GA; a host of aunts, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and extended family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and his big brother, James Foetson, whom Steve idolized and was fondly called “little bro”.
